The Indian sages

It is theSages that have enriched and brought glory to the Indian culture and philosophy since the times immemorial.
They lived in the forests away from the influence of urban areas and led a severe and austere life. They contributed for the glory and prosperity of the nation doing
penance and yagas extolling the God.

Vedavyasa,the great Indian sage

VedaVyasa is one of those sages who played a very predominant role for the growth of Indian heritage.His father was Parasara. He is another great sage. He was the
author of Parasarasmrithi one of those Smrithis which envisage rules of human conduct.

Birth of Vyasa

THE MAHARSHI Parasara, one day, was going in a boat on the river Sarayu.Satyavathi,the young virgin daughter of DASARAJU,THE King of fishermen,was rowing the boat.PARASARA,by
Divine will,was captivated by the beauty of Satyavathi.He made love with her.He bestowed her a boon for retention of her virginity.Then Sathyavathi gave birth to a male child
on the island located in the river. That child was named Vyasa after the name of the island.After Vyasa grew up,Parasara the sage took him to his convent located in the thick
of the forests and taught him all Vedas and allied subjects.

Vyasa-the great Author

Vyasa was a great voracious author.He had great vision about Indian culture.He had extraordinary supernatural powers.VEDAS originally were mixed up and looked like one single
unit.It was a tenacious job for any one to go through them.Then Vyasa took up the great task of dividing them and coordinating them.Then he gave them the present shape of four
Vedas.He also authored eighteen PURANAS,the great amazing BrahmaSutrasand many others.Totally it
was said that he he wrote totally twenty four lakhs of slokas; a stupendous work ever accomplished before by any one.
